Chicago, IL (May 8, 2006) – – Seyfarth Shaw LLP, one of America’s leading full service law firms, announced that three prominent labor and employment attorneys have joined the firm’s partnership adding additional strength and experience to a practice group known for its deep bench of knowledgeable and sophisticated legal representation.
Richard B. Lapp re-joins the firm in its Chicago office; previously, he was with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. Stuart Newman is in Atlanta; most recently, he was the managing partner of Jackson Lewis’ Atlanta office. Richard M. Reice is resident in New York, prior to his joining Seyfarth Shaw, he was partner at Brown Raysman Millstein Felder & Steiner LLP.
Lapp’s practice includes labor and employment litigation before federal and state courts and agencies, in particular, representing employers in class and collective actions and multi-plaintiff cases. His experience also encompasses advice and counseling on a variety of labor and employment issues, arbitration and mediation, and internal investigations. Lapp is a member of the American Bar Association and within, the ABA’s Labor and Employment, Dispute Resolution and Litigation (including the Committee on Class and Derivative Actions and Business Law) Sections, the Chicago Bar Association and the Seventh Circuit Bar Association. He received a B.A. from Michigan State University and his J.D. cum laude (Order of the Coif) from the University of Wisconsin School of Law.
Newman’s substantive practice covers the range of labor and employment law matters, but has and will be focused on traditional labor relations including complex collective bargaining and all other labor-management related areas. He was responsible for founding the Atlanta office of Jackson Lewis 28 years ago and has watched over its steadfast growth and integration in the Atlanta and Southeast marketplace. Newman is admitted to both the New York and Georgia state bars; he is a member of the American Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta. He is a published author and a Member and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the New York Military Academy. Newman also performs pro bono services as volunteer employment counsel and advisor to Temple Dor Tamid in Alpharetta, GA. He received his B.A from the State University of New York and his J.D., cum laude, from Albany Law School.
